Our Children's Book Week celebration (May 2-7) this year includes a bookmark contest, Stuffed Animal Sleepover, Find the Cat in the Hat, and our regular storytime.

Bookmark contest entry forms will be available at the library. We could probably also provide them electronically. Entries will be accepted May 2-7. Up to 10 bookmark designs will be reproduced and made available to our customers. One entrant will be randomly selected to receive a gift card.

A stuffed Cat in the Hat will be hidden in the library. Kids who find the location will receive a sticker.

Thursday, May 5, we will host a Stuffed Animal Sleepover. Kids bring in a stuffed animal and leave the toys for a "slumber party" in the library. The target for this is younger children, preschool or early elementary. Toys may be dropped off anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on May 5. There will also be a craft they can do. After 5:00, library staff and possibly volunteers will take action photos of the toys enjoying their sleepover in the library. Kids get a photo album the next day when they pick up their toy.

Children’s Book Week, an annual celebration of books for kids and teens, was launched in 1919 and is currently administered by the non-profit Every Child a Reader. The 2022 theme is "How Do You Book?"
